Records Classification Overview

Classification is a fundamental function in records management. Classification is the "systematic identification and arrangement of business activities and/or records into categories according to logically structured conventions, methods, and procedural rules represented in a classification system."

Keyword AAA

In 1995, State Records NSW released Keyword AAA, a keyword thesaurus of general administrative terminology. It covered terminology common to most NSW Government organisations and common functions and activities, for example Personnel, Financial Management, Occupation Health and Safety.

Keyword for Councils

In 2001, State Records NSW released Keyword for Councils, a thesaurus for NSW Local Government. Keyword for Councils was based on the business classification scheme for local government developed by State Records NSW and covered terminology common to business functions and activities undertaken by councils.
