The State Records NSW has established minimum requirements for metadata for authoritative records and information. This mapping links the minimum metadata required for authoritative records and information to relevant metadata properties from AS/NZS 5478:2015 Recordkeeping Metadata Property Reference Set (RMPRS).

AS/NZS 5478:2015 Recordkeeping Metadata Property Reference Set (RMPRS) provides a reference set of recordkeeping metadata to support systems interoperability and records sustainability. As a reference set it is intended to be implementation-neutral and provide a common framework from which organisations can develop their own application profiles. This enables multiple and flexible implementations to suit jurisdiction or organisation-specific requirements while supporting consistency and interoperability through reference to a larger framework.

The RMPRS is based on the Australian Government Recordkeeping Metadata Standard (AGRkMS) developed by Archives New Zealand and the National Archives of Australia.

The Council of Australasian Archival and Records Authorities (CAARA) has endorsed the adoption of the RMPRS in Australian and New Zealand archives.

In NSW, State Records NSW has established minimum requirements for metadata for authoritative records and information. This metadata must be configured in systems and carried forward through system changes in order to sustain records immediately and through time.

The following table maps the minimum metadata required for authoritative records and information to relevant metadata properties from the RMPRS:
